Remember that rock you’ve been under when it comes to mad as fuck art in Australia, well, push it off your head, because if you havent as yet heard of the Everfresh crew, well – now you fkn have.
Melbourne’s Everfresh have been together since early 2004, when a bunch of likeminded artistic friends got together in a studio in Collingwood – and, since then, with such a massive creative output between them, they have become one of the biggest things in urban/street/low brow art across the nation – and, rightly so, their output is pretty phenominal, as all these events in the past year attest to.
These guys have had work up all across the globe, and both murals and gallery/vanvas work by all are highly sought after by collectors and aficionados everywhere. They’ve got up in Japan, painting in the underground of New York, had shows in London – yeah, they’re seriously that fkn dope – heres some cool pics of some silos and their work at the NGV earlier this year over at the awesome Street Art photoblog – Land Of Sunshine.
Last year, these guys even got together to put out a book – The Everfresh Black Book, which is a massive tomes of the picks of the nunch of their work for the last six or seven years, and its pretty fkn great.
Why do we point these guys out to you now? Well, because they are about to embark upon a big adventure, which is something new to Australian galleries .. since doing the piece below, they were asked to return ….
.. and now they’re moving in to the National Gallery of Victoria, and making it (well, a portion of it) all their own – taking an entire studio setup, and putting themselves in there for the next month to produce a bunch of work.
Afterwards, they’ll have a exhibition of all of the work that they’re produced, and a bit of a retrospective.
On top of all that, member Phibs just had a show in Collingwood, and Meggs is displaying in London.
Rone (who Invurt just interviewed yesterday) has one next week – and its looks fucking wicked.
Makatron has also been making waves recently with some very high profile mural work, and the rest of the team have also been working tirelessly of late on their own shit hot stuff.
On TOP of all that – they also help to run the Backwoods Gallery with several others, which is a very cool spot in the back streets of Collingwood, that plays host to some of the finest international and local talent there is – a great place to have a beer and schmooze with the extended ‘burn graff and street art clan – this image below is of the very cool Kami & Sasu exhibition.
These guys are ballin, without any doubt, and there is so much more to them than can be put into one post – so go check them the fuck out!!
